Summary: To convey liquids or gases, various types of pipelines are used. In addition to straight steel pipes, a wide range of pipe fittings are also required: elbows are used when pipelines turn, reducers are used when pipe diameters change, tees are used for branching, and flanges are employed to connect pipe sections together. 　　I. Overview of Pipeline Systems for Steel Pipe Fittings

　　To convey liquids or gases, various types of pipelines are used. In addition to straight steel pipes, pipelines also require a variety of pipe fittings: elbows are used when pipelines turn, reducers are used when pipeline diameters change, tees are used for branching, and flanges are employed to connect pipe sections together. To enable the opening and closing of the conveyed medium, various valves are also required. Moreover, to mitigate the effects of thermal expansion and contraction or frequent vibrations on the piping system, expansion joints are utilized. Furthermore, along the pipeline, there are various connectors, plugs, and other fittings that link to different instruments and meters. We commonly refer to all components in a piping system—other than straight pipes—as pipe fittings.

　　II. General Knowledge of Metal Materials for Steel Pipe Fittings:

　　Metallic materials are widely used in both our daily lives and industrial applications. They are primarily categorized into several types, including steel, iron, and non-ferrous metals. Among these, steel is the most commonly used and prevalent material. The main component of steel is iron, with the remaining portion consisting of alloying elements added artificially as well as various impurities. It is precisely because of the different types and quantities of these added alloying elements that a wide variety of steels are produced—such as ordinary carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel, among others. Among these added elements, carbon (C) plays an extremely important role.
