Solutions to the Problem of Stainless Steel Storage Tank Blockages

Category: Industry News

Release time: 2022-08-22

Summary: During use, stainless steel storage tanks may encounter blockage issues, primarily due to impurities in the equipment or prolonged lack of maintenance. When a blockage occurs, how should we address it?

During use, stainless steel storage tanks may encounter blockage issues, primarily due to impurities in the equipment or prolonged lack of maintenance. So, what should we do when a product becomes blocked?

  1. Treatment for Increased Resistance in Stainless Steel Storage Tanks: If the resistance in a desulfurization tower increases, it is essential to analyze and determine—based on the specific situation—whether the cause is sulfur blocks, alkali blocks, auxiliary salt blocks, or mechanical impurities, and then adopt the corresponding treatment method. If the catalyst is the primary cause of tower blockage, you can stop adding that catalyst and instead use the desulfurization catalyst 888, which has a tower-cleaning function. If the packing material in the tower consists of mechanical impurities or pure salts, adding 888 will not reduce the tower’s resistance. However, if the packing material is a mixture of sulfur and salts, as the sulfur is washed away, the salts will gradually decompose and loosen. The loose material in the packing section of the desulfurization tower will move downward from top to bottom; occasionally, local resistance may increase temporarily, but after a few days, the resistance will return to normal.

  2. During the desulfurization process in stainless steel storage tanks, operators should enhance their sense of responsibility, carefully monitor changes in the resistance of the desulfurization system, and promptly report any abnormalities to the workshop and relevant departments. Regularly hold operational analysis meetings, establish a ledger for sulfur production statistics, record the sulfur generated during each shift, improve the sulfur recovery rate, balance sulfur levels, and reduce the suspended sulfur content in the solution.

  3. Enhance process and operational management by requiring continuous reuse of stainless steel tanks, diverting sulfur foam overflow into foam tanks, and reusing the settled residual liquid by feeding it back into the system. Through process calculations, select an appropriate solution circulation rate, periodically increase the solution circulation volume, and perform intermittent cleaning of the desulfurization tower packing section. Strengthen water quality control in the cooler and pre-treatment of semi-water gas. Before desulfurization, increase the water supply to the gas scrubber and activate the electrostatic tar removal device to reduce the content of coal dust and tar entering the desulfurization system.

If a stainless steel storage tank becomes blocked during use, stop using it immediately, identify the cause, and address the issue promptly to avoid affecting work efficiency. We recommend regularly cleaning the product to prevent blockages.
